Summary#

This bill directs the Department of Commerce, through the Assistant Secretary for Industry and Analysis, to lead a new Supply Chain Resilience Working Group and related activities to assess and plan for shocks to critical supply chains and emerging technologies. The bill requires the Assistant Secretary to map and model critical supply chains, identify gaps and vulnerabilities, evaluate domestic and allied manufacturing capacity, and develop contingency and coordination plans. It requires public comment periods for key designations and reports, protects certain voluntarily submitted supply-chain information from public disclosure, and defines terms including critical goods, critical industries, and emerging technologies. The bill also requires a Department of Commerce capability assessment and several reports to Congress, sets a 10-year sunset, and states that no additional funds are authorized.
