Summary#

This bill tells NASA to keep and use its rocket engine and propulsion testing skills and facilities so it can meet goals for human spaceflight exploration. It says NASA must keep the expertise to test and evaluate rocket propulsion systems and may work with private companies to do that. The bill says the Stennis Space Center will continue to manage NASA's rocket propulsion testing programs. It also requires NASA to brief the relevant congressional committees within 180 days about plans for testing engines for missions in low-Earth orbit and deep space, and about future testing for vehicles certified for use with government astronauts.
