Recognize and fund WCCRP

Petitioners ask Canada to recognize the West Coast Corridor Resiliency Partnership (WCCRP), provide predictable multi‑year federal funding, and work with Indigenous, local and regional partners to strengthen national transport, flood‑mitigation and other critical infrastructure.

Why we would sign this petition

  • It would strengthen national transport and flood‑mitigation infrastructure, reducing risks of costly disruptions to trade, emergency response and food supply.
  • Predictable multi‑year federal funding enables long-term planning and faster project delivery for resiliency upgrades.
  • Recognizing a regional partnership encourages coordinated federal, Indigenous, local and regional action, improving project alignment and shared priorities.

Why we wouldn’t sign this petition

  • Long-term federal funding requires substantial spending and trade-offs with other national priorities and budgets.
  • Routing funding through a new regional partnership could concentrate resources unevenly and may bypass existing federal programs or oversight.
  • The partnership may not represent all affected stakeholders; some communities or Indigenous groups might prefer alternative planning or governance arrangements.

The summary and both sets of reasons are AI-generated from the petition and given equal weight. Claims are the petitioners’ own; consult the official record for the full text.
