Stop Canada Post service cuts
Petitioners ask the Government of Canada to stop Canada Post’s proposed service cuts and immediately launch a fully transparent public review of Canada Post’s mandate that allows meaningful input from all stakeholders.
Why we would sign this petition
- Would prevent loss of door-to-door delivery and protect seniors, disabled, rural and Indigenous communities who the petition says are especially affected.
- Would stop thousands of job losses and maintain postal services valued by communities.
- Would require a fully transparent mandate review that gives stakeholders meaningful input into Postes Canada decisions.
Why we wouldn’t sign this petition
- Could block cost‑saving changes that some argue are needed to keep Canada Post financially sustainable, delaying necessary reforms.
- An immediate, wide-ranging review could delay implementation and prolong operational uncertainty for users and employees.
- Seeks to stop cuts outright rather than proposing specific alternatives or targeted protections, which may be more practical or efficient.

Official petition
Petition to the House of Commons in Parliament Assembled Whereas Canada Post and the governing Liberals are taking an axe to long-treasured postal services - eliminating good jobs, eliminating door-to-door delivery, lowering mail delivery standards, and removing the moratorium preventing the closure of rural post offices. Whereas Canada Post has submitted its plan for these cuts to the Government, but it has not been released publicly. Whereas these cuts will hurt seniors and disabled Canadians in particular, who represent over 40% of the population, as well as rural, remote and Indigenous communities, four million households will also lose door-to- door delivery over the next three to five years, and thousands of workers will lose their jobs. Whereas the Government of Canada has instructed Canada Post to cut services based on an Industrial Inquiry Commission report produced with limited input from the public - its main stakeholder - and which rejected service expansion recommendations of those who did participate, and; Whereas Canada Post offers a public service that needs to be protected. Therefore we, the undersigned, citizens and residents of Canada, call upon the Government of Canada to stop the postal service cuts, and to immediately launch a fully transparent public mandate review of Canada Post that allows all stakeholders to provide meaningful input.
