Stop A‑OTHR on Clearview farmland

Petitioners ask the Government to stop construction of any Arctic Over‑the‑Horizon Radar (A‑OTHR) site on the already purchased Clearview Township farmland, prevent further farmland acquisitions and register the property with Ontario Farmland Trust.

Why we would sign this petition

  • Prevents development of prime Clearview farmland and Minesing Wetlands, protecting agricultural capacity and local ecosystems.
  • Registers the land with Ontario Farmland Trust to lock in agricultural status and limit future non‑agricultural use.
  • Stops additional land purchases and construction that could disrupt local farming operations and community land use.

Why we wouldn’t sign this petition

  • Could hinder national defence planning and Arctic surveillance if A‑OTHR sites are deemed operationally necessary.
  • Blocks government flexibility to acquire land for infrastructure, potentially forcing costlier or less effective alternatives.
  • Registering federally‑owned or reserved land with a provincial trust may face legal or administrative obstacles, limiting the petition’s effectiveness.

The summary and both sets of reasons are AI-generated from the petition and given equal weight. Claims are the petitioners’ own; consult the official record for the full text.
